Chapters that do not run the nationally sponsored membership orientation program, the Mark of Distinction program, must submit their program for approval every four years as per Borradaile Challenge standards.
The program must meet the nine learning objectives of a successful membership orientation program of Phi Kappa Tau via this checklist:

(with a carbon copy sent to the BOG chairman and chapter adviser). The program will be reviewed by the recruitment and resources coordinator within five business days, after which he will send a response of "approved" or "not approved" to the president and membership orientation officer.
If approved, the chapter is allowed to use ONLY the program that was approved.
If not approved, the chapter will receive feedback on what information is lacking or needing clarification, and be asked to re-submit. If the program is not approved, the chapter will automatically be placed on membership suspension until approval, which includes:
- NO initiation of members.
- NO implementation of any kind of Membership Orientation Program.
- NO recruitment or bidding of new associate members.
In addition to meeting the learning objective checklist requirements, chapter programs will also need to include the following during submission for approval:
- Number of weeks in the program
- Title(s) of each program/module
- SPECIFIC learning objectives for each program/module
- DETAILED information about the program, including, but not limited to: facilitator’s guide, facilitator/presenter, any handouts, location of the program/module, time of the presentation/program, when during the six-week process it will occur, etc.
PROGRAM OUTLINES WILL NOT BE APPROVED.
