Please note: According to law, scholarship money is not taxable when used for tuition, books, fees or required equipment. Scholarship checks are routinely made payable to the student AND his college/university, thus avoiding any question about tax to the individual. However, because the dollar amount of the scholarship MAY BE TAXABLE, the Foundation recommends recipients consult their tax advisors for clarification. It is the responsibility of the recipient to file a report with the Internal Revenue Service if their tax advisor indicates the scholarship is taxable.
