October 20, 2009: Valley City, Ohio—Alpha Omega chapter at Baldwin-Wallace recently hosted an alumni golf outing and banquet at Cherokee Hills Golf Course. More than 30 brothers attended the outing, dinner and awards ceremony.

The outing raised more than $500 for chapter operations, and VPAR Adam Harrison, Baldwin-Wallace ’07, said it helped with the chapter’s goal of increased alumni involvement.

“After dinner everyone stayed around for a few hours just talking and getting to know each other,” he said. “Almost all the alumni said they would be back next year.”

While the chapter has hosted this event before, increased publicity and improved planning helped the group expand the outing. Undergraduates used Facebook, Twitter, e-mail and the Alpha Omega GIN system to spread the word.

Harrison stressed how important it is to keep strong ties with a chapter’s alumni.

“Alumni involvement is one of the most important aspects of a chapter’s strength,” he said. “Alumni are the only thing that keeps a chapter’s knowledge flowing from one generation to the next.”
