On Tuesday, September 13, Andy Jones, Mount Union ’15 (pictured left) received the A.P. Rickard and Alice M. and Stanley T. Evans Freshman Prize at the Honors Dewald Dinner.

This award is annually granted to a member of the freshman class who has the highest grade point average at the close of the academic year and is considered by the college faculty to be the most worthy of this prize. In 2015, Ben Lewis, Mount Union ’14 received this award.

To earn this award, Jones, a finance and financial mathematics major, had to achieve a 4.0 GPA while taking 38 credits through 2 semesters, had to be involved in various on-campus groups, community service and philanthropic events, and other accomplishing achievements. He also had to submit a list of all his organizations, involvements, and achievements with a two-page essay describing why he deserved this award. Some of Jones’ involvements include Alpha Lambda Delta Honors Fraternity, Investment Team, Phi Kappa Tau Standards Board and Recruitment Committee, and Residence Life staff.
