OXFORD, OH, November 8, 2017 – Historical moments are special for many reasons. This past weekend at the University of South Carolina was indeed extraordinary in nature, rare in occurrence and was driven with purpose. The Fraternity is excited to welcome 90 new members into our brotherhood and proud to soon welcome its newest chapter into the Phi Kappa Tau family – the Zeta Xi chapter at the University of South Carolina.
What usually occurs over a two or three consecutive day celebration will take the South Carolina colony multiple weekends due to its size. All chartering weekends begin with the initiation of the colony members, which occurred for the South Carolina Colony this past weekend. Over a two day period that began on Friday, November 3rd undergraduates, members of the Executive Offices staff and alumni members representing 14 different chapters gathered on the USC campus to initiate a historic number of men. 90 men were initiated over the course of approximately 24 hours between Friday evening and Saturday.
The colony is proof that quality attracts quantity as they are leaders in the classroom, on campus and in their colony. The colony boasts a 3.29 cumulative GPA, has raised over $6,500 for various philanthropic endeavors including SeriousFun, have performed over 1,500 hours of community service and hold leadership positions in various campus organizations including student government and the IFC. Notably Stephen Pollock has been elected as the new IFC President.
The journey and hard work of starting a colony began just over a year ago and the colony will continue to celebrate their success with yet another historic event on November 18, 2017 when they officially sign their charter and are installed as the Zeta Xi chapter of Phi Kappa Tau – the largest chartering in Phi Kappa Tau’s 111 year history!
Please join us in congratulating our newly initiated brothers at the University of South Carolina.
