December 4, 2009: Fullerton, Calif.—Gamma Omicron chapter at Cal State-Fullerton recently received four awards at the school’s Pursuit of Excellence Awards Banquet. The chapter’s most recent accomplishments are a result of some restructuring within the chapter.

The group was honored with the following awards:

•    Outstanding Program of the Year. Monte Carlo Night—a casino-style charity event—raised $6,500 for The Painted Turtle Camp.

•    Chapter’s Choice Award. The school’s Panhellenic and Interfraternity Council chapters vote for the group of their choice.

•    Outstanding Alumnus of the Year. Chapter Advisor Matt Della Mora, Cal State Fullerton ’03, was honored.

•    4-Star Award. Out of five possible stars, the program helps Greek organizations function at the most effective and efficient levels possible.

“With help from our Board of Governors, alumni and the Executive Council, we developed strong leadership skills which reorganized our chapter by encouraging dedication, motivation and commitment,” Chapter President Andrew Lopez, Cal State-Fullerton ’06, said.

The Gamma Omicron men intend to use their recognition to spur future success. The group plans to focus on philanthropy, community service and academics.

“The leadership and support that is provided by the alumni, administration, and BOG raises the standard for our chapter as we continue to exceed all expectations,” Lopez said.
